Royal Family Kids Camp
Hope 1312 Collective’s Royal Family Kids Camp is designed and carried out through the lens, language, and framework of TBRI. From our forms, food, and training to our activities, curriculum, and daily rhythms, nothing goes unexamined as we continually ask how our practices can increase connection, felt safety, and regulation.
We are now 10 years into camp life, and our feedback loop has taught us a lot. We’ve journeyed through years of increasing nurture, followed by years of intentionally “structuring up,” continually adjusting the balance as we work to create an environment where relational healing can take root—not only for our 60+ campers, but, honestly, for our 120+ volunteers as well.
The outcomes we’ve witnessed through this intentional work have pushed us to think beyond one week of camp. We’ve developed monthly Mentor Clubs to provide ongoing connection throughout the year, and we are now launching weekend retreats for campers who have aged out of Royal Family Kids Camp.
But some of our proudest moments are harder to capture in numbers. They are the moments that give us glimpses of secure attachment: watching young people who have been cared for return to care for others; watching those who have been served come back to serve. What began as creating a week of felt safety has grown into enduring relationships, increasing reciprocity, and a community where healing continues long after camp ends.
It’s working—and we would love the opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and scaffold with you as we continue building environments where relational healing can happen.
